I love my family! Chris was showing me football plays and he was naming the players and where they go. Angelee came up and asked where she was in the game and she's very persistent asking at least four times in 30 seconds, finally Chris drew an A and said that's Ang she said "oh OK that's Angelee!!" He goes on to explain more of the play to me, she chimes in again, "but where's Gage?" Chris draws a G on the sideline and next thing we know the entire family has to be in the play!! Which is so true because it is the entire family involved. I love being a football family, when football ended last year Chris and I went into some sort of depression,it was like "what do we do now?" I love the hustle and bustle of the season. I love the respect and discipline that comes from Damien, Chris and even Me, I've been able to get somewhere on time (are ya shocked?) It's like the entire family steps up to the plate and pitches in. I LOVE the practices, I love the GAMES(of course). I love the the family closeness that surrounds it. It's so fun to watch the games, I get so caught up in the game, I know I'm there because my son is on the team, but I have to admit most of the time I don't even know if he's on the field or not! D has thee most amazing coach. This is his second year playing with this team, last year he was 9 years old playing on a 8 year old team. This year we had to "Z" him down to play with the same team. That process was one I will never forget. D showed soooo much determination. I'm so proud of him. Let's just say he had to be a tiny bit lighter to "play down" which meant he was pretty means basically he wasn't able to eat sweets which is ok with me!! It was only three weeks but man was it
EMOTIONAL!!! The only thing on our minds for a month was "making weight" I researched every way in the book to do it "safely" and he did it!! The funniest thing about the whole process
besides the spitting contest He and I had was the meal he chose after weight-ins, a
chilly-dog yep he had to have a
a foot long chilly-dog,
then he had to go to practice right after!! One of the coaches calls him "chilly dog" now as a nickname, I HATE IT, I had a hard time with "the Omen" last year, I'd take that one a thousand times before
chilly dog LOL!

Oh! Dotty, football was the best thing that ever happened to my family! we were new to tooele. NO LIFE! we had nothing and no-one. then came 8-year old football. wow! what a change in our lives and family! we lived, ate, and breathed football. then came home and watched it on t.v. so we could follow the guy that played the same position as anthony. you are so right on with everything that changes and it being a family event! i knew all of tony's plays so i could help him/chew him out. i was a camp mom for 3 years. i just loved that!! i helped feed and care for the boys during camp or hell week in high school. i loved knowing all the boys and i felt useful and they all were so nice to me. i could go pay lunch money and 3 or 4 players would come up to me and say 'hi tony rose mom' or hi mrs. rose! and it really helped when i was substitute-- no trouble from the jocks and no trouble from anyone else who knew any of them either! haha
ReplyDeleteit is a way of life that helped me to be a more organized mom. like you said, i was on time! if i wasn't, my son would pay with extra laps or what ever punishment. i was determined that my son wasn't going to pay for my ineptness. i learned to have super speedy dinners that were healthy. tony couldn't eat before--cramping. afterwards, if it took too long to cook then NO_ONE was going to be happy.
it also made anthony be a better man. he learned to have respect, follow orders, and to control himself. i could catch him being mad and mean to his sisters and i could tell him to save it for the field.
you will love your years of football as i did. i know you will because you already are and i'm so very happy for you and your whole family. have fun and tell damien to keep it up and i am proud of all his effort and hard hard work! love you all <3 <3
